Laser/RF assisted Vaginal Rejuvenation/Tightening in Boston
Vaginal rejuvenation has become an important procedure through which women can regain what has diminished through pregnancy and the aging process. There are several methods that may be used to help a woman feel more comfortable and confident. Which procedure Dr. Khatri performs depends on the intended goal.
What is a labiaplasty?
Labiaplasty is a minor surgical procedure that contours the external genitalia in order to create symmetry, or to reduce size. Sometimes, the labia minora hang below the labia majora. This may cause a woman to feel dissatisfied with the appearance of this area of her body. It may also pose clear and present physical discomfort.
Am I a good candidate for a labiaplasty?
Adult women of all ages are seeking information about labiaplasty from their experienced physician trained in this delicate procedure. To undergo this sculpting surgery, you need not prove medical necessity. The fact that you are not pleased with the appearance of your genitalia is sufficient reason for labiaplasty.
How is a labiaplasty performed?
There are two methods that may be used to restore balance across the labia. Which one is employed will depend most directly on your unique anatomy. Dr. Khatri may adjust the size and shape of the labia using a wedge excision, or an edge excision. The wedge excision removes a triangle-shape of tissue, whereas the edge excision modifies tissue from the edges.
What can I expect during the labiaplasty procedure?
During the procedure, you should feel no discomfort due to the use of local anesthetic. Medication to help you relax may be prescribed or administered prior to your procedure. This will be discussed in your FREE consultation and preoperative visit, along with the method of excision that will be used to remove excess tissue.
Like labiaplasty, vaginal rejuvenation is increasing in popularity as awareness regarding beneficial procedures has grown.
Vaginal rejuvenation, with either laser or radio frequency technology, is intended to restore the supportive structure and narrow diameter of the vaginal canal. These characteristics may change after childbirth, or in response to biological changes. When muscle tone is weak and poorly supported, and tissues have become lax, the optimum state of the vagina is diminished. Along with that, a woman’s sense of sensuality may decrease significantly. Vaginal atrophy also instigates urinary incontinence, in which urine may accidentally leak during a sneeze, a cough, or a laugh.
We are proud to offer vaginal rejuvenation procedures for patients of our Revere or Chelmsford, MA offices, as well as of our office in Nashua, NH.
What is laser/radio-frequency vaginal rejuvenation?
Laser vaginal rejuvenation uses a specifically designed laser device to promote increased blood flow and collagen production throughout the vaginal canal. Treatment is conducted in the office and begins with a minor pelvic exam. The laser probe is then inserted into the vaginal canal, where energy penetrates approximately .5 mm into the vaginal mucosa. This depth is necessary for collagen rebuilding, and collagen rebuilding is necessary for firmer tissue.
What are the benefits of vaginal laser/radio-frequency rejuvenation?
Laser/radio-frequency vaginal rejuvenation promotes blood flow and collagen production, which in turn rebuild the supportive matrix of connective tissue in the vaginal canal. The diameter of the canal narrows, and lubrication is increased.
